Hi guys, new here. Thinking about getting some BBS RS001 Rims for my '90 Golf GTI 16V, not sure which size to get, if I get the 15x8 will there be any rubbing. Would I need to purchase spacers etc as well. Want it looking a phat as possible. As you can see with the photo I am keeping the standard flares (arches). TSR rims are from previous owner and think they look little crap. let us know what you think is my best option. 8x15 will fit but subject to offset is how much work you will need to do to the arches etc.

Also depends on ride height, but chances are you are going to have to fold, roll or cut the inside lip on the outer of the arches.

Its been lowered by 40mm and guna keep it at that I think, what would you suggest I do as I dont really want to do anything to the arches,

To run 8x15 your going to need tweak/trim the arches.

At that height you might just get away with it if you fit 195/45/15 tyres which will give a slight stretch.
But if you don't want to go any lower, your car might actually look better with a 7J and a 195/50/15.

Been doing a bit of research, is there much difference between getting 15x7J with 195/50/15 tyres, and getting 15x7.5 with 195/45/15 tyres

yeh about .5 :grin:

seriously tho, yeah they may still rub as it all depends on the ride quality of the shocks and springs you are using as well...the main scrub i got was with the rear arches...interestingly the fronts were fine but then again i run the shocks on 75 % which is pretty hard...the rears are set and are pretty softish

8J's should be the max width on a mk2 imo. any more and they look crap.

185. 45's for extra stretch

195's the best looking and safest option.

195.50...dont bother!

likely to rub slightly so you may need to fold the metal arch lip carefuly or them done by the pro's
You may need to trim the plastic arch too.
