as RR says if it works dont fix it!

Highly specialised mechatronics unit that even has issues when std!

increased rpm limit of debateable benefit in a high torque 4 pot turbo, as well as that its an extra 1100rpm   , force squares with revs (or something like that) so the increased forces for an increase of that size would blow your bottom end I'd suspect.

Quicker gearchange , does the DSG really need that?

clutch [pack and quaiffe would seem a much more tried and tested way of increased performance.

Leave this well alone for now imho

[or if moneys really burning a hole in your pocket , put the ED30 back to std , sell it and get a cheap(er) R32 and add the HPA turbo kit.
At the cash we are talking about the end result is going to be pretty special]

I wasn't about to jump in and do it. I'll be waiting to see if the Yanks start blowing their engines or not first

I'm not interested in the software upgrade on my standard GTi, if anything I'd like to lower the shift point on the DSG as the asmatic K03 turbo runs out of puff higher up the rev range. It's maybe ok for ED30 guys, but I wouldn't touch it even if I had one as I can see it being too much stress on the engine internals.

I'm much more interested in the Clutch upgrade, and Quaif, when/if it becomes available on it's own. If that gets released for a UK garage to fit then I'll have it.

....Easier to get around this if you use DSG in Manual and shift when you feel it's best.

I'm much more interested in the Clutch upgrade, and Quaife, when/if it becomes available on it's own. If that gets released for a UK garage to fit then I'll have it.

....I'm not sure what you mean by "a UK garage" - Anyone installing a clutch upgrade or Quaife to a DSG box will need to know exactly what they are doing - Any old UK garage won't be up to it.

I wouldn't touch the software upgrade - too stressful for the engine and no apparent benefit.  As someone else has pointed out, the DSG changes fast enough and wouldn't really make any difference... so a pointless 'upgrade'.  However, uprated clutch pack and a Quaife LSD... now that is something that defintely does interest me  as you are protecting you DSG in a modified car and seeing a definite performace benefit from the Quaife LSD

HPA DSG Upgrade Roll Call……

Since the debut of our FT400 for the DSG back in 2004, HPA and our partners have been pushing the threshold of the DSG gear boxes. Encountering numerous versions of this gearbox laced across multiple platforms, the learning curve has been steep at times. Since the RGT builds in 2005, HPA has embraced the modified DSG gearbox to showcase heavy hitting twin turbo VR6’s around the World.

With our recent push to bring our CVP program to the MK5 R32, we were faced with task of transforming an exclusive upgrade into a mainstream program. Out of the box, the DSG is brilliant. But put your self behind the guns of an HPA twin turbo and you wonder how the gearbox can be shifting faster than your brain is processing, you see the 3.2 sing past 7100RPM engaging the full power band of this incredible motor, and the launch control offers a might off the line at the strip with a launch RPM just under 5000RPM.

Whether you are NA or turbo, we will awaken your DSG experience in ways not imagined. Shortening the response time on the shift inputs and raising the Shift RPM are only some of the highlights. Our D mode offers a more realistic shift pattern where you won’t find yourself in 6th gear while driving under 35mph.

We are proud to announce that we will be rolling out mainstream access to this amazing software upgrade. With the same magnitude that the Haldex upgrade transformed the feel of the AWD platform, our DSG upgrade transforms the whole car instantly creating an addiction to your paddles.

There will be three versions available:

Stage 1 – 4750RPM launch control with disabled kick down in manual mode $699

Putting the driver back in control, the DSG will react as a true manual gearbox allowing better control and feel in mid corner entry and exit. With the higher launch control, the reaction off the line will radically improve as the 3.2 will launch within its TQ band.

Stage 2 – Stage 1 + shortened shift response, 7150RPM redline $899

With all the advantages of Stage 1, the stage 2 expands the control of the driver by shortening the reaction time of each shift upwards of 60%. With the redline bumped, no longer will the gearbox shifts begin its shift at 6500RPM. Breathing into the red, the motor’s power band will be fully unleashed.

Stage 3R – Stage 2 + higher TQ limit ,clutch engagement optimization, “D” mode reprogrammed for a sportier street feel Price TBC

Intended for modified FI applications, we have revamped the clutch engagement curve to allow better grip with the OEM clutches or our aftermarket upgraded versions. The TQ limits that the DSG will accept have been increased. The D mode remaps the shift point for round town driving. No longer will the DSG shift through all 6 gears under 35MPH. With heavy power modes, the resulting kick downs are very abusive on the gearbox and erode the initial impact of the power band when looking to overtake.

Today, our only obstacle is the Geography between our operations here in BC and the enthusiast that are looking for an injection of raw performance. As part of our roll out, we will be looking to assemble groups in areas where the demand is strongest and fly in our tech to perform the flashes on site. We have a strong number of tuner shops that have inquired to distribute this software so if your area is more remote, there will be more options coming.

If you are interested in this upgrade, please email through the following link, including which city and state you are in, the Stage which is appealing and any modifications you already have.

It'll be a while before it hits our shores and it seems mainly aimed at the R32 and BIG turbo modified GTIs (presumably with uprated clutch packs too). Although I can see how the kickdown disable and faster gear changes would appeal to all.

HPA is that HGP?
http://www.hgp-turbo.de/

HGP does lots of things to DSG.
That company is the only reason I'd consider buying R32!
