TDI Problem... thought my bottom end went
« on: 15 November 2008, 22:48 »
I was in a bit of a mood yesturday ...  I booted my TDI out of the junction and hit 4500 rpm and all of a sudden all power went and it was running on 3 cylinders, shuddering and knocking  :huh:instantly thought the bottom end had gone or blown something big time, but this isnt the first time its happend, the last time was when reving to the limiter at 5000 rpm unloaded.

Anyway last time i left it for 10 mins and it was fine,  but this time it kept running on 3 when i started it,  so i left it running and revved it to about 2000 rpm untill it gradualy started picking up on all four again, with this came a whole cloud of black smoke, Cant think what the hell is causing this,  only thing that comes to mind is i have a very slight leak from one injector, could be letting in air,  either way it sounds and feels like air in the injection system.  just wondering why it does it all of a sudden when it hits the govoner.

Sounds like a knackered injector to me.
