DSG Oil&Filter
« on: 12 November 2008, 21:54 »
Hey All,

I have a 40k service coming up and the stealer wants to charge an extra £200 for the DSG oil and filter change, Seems a bit excessive to me!

My mate is a mechanic and has his own small garage, he has never carried out a DSG service before but how hard can it be for someone with mechanical knowledge? (I would ask him to do the full 40k service but I want the dealer stamp in the service book)

Anyone know how to carry out a DSG service?

Cheers,

Ryan

I have just seen this http://www.mkv-gti.net/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_change_DSG_transmission_oil

I think I might leave it for the dealer to do!

I let the dealer do mine .....at just over 10k :lipsrsealed:

Worth it for me though...and £200 isn't bad either.

worth ringing around other stealers in the area as yours will prob price match, got my local one down to £160 for the dsg service.

And i would defo let the dealer do this service, i cant imagine any one wanting to buy a dsg equipped car that VW hasnt looked after, considering the cost of fixing or replacing these things.

Yep, best to have dealer do DSG for now until others have more experience.  and call around, price matching will always save you a bob or two.

My car is up for the DSG 40K service in a couple of weeks.  Got in touch with a local dealer for a price who quoted £146.29.  Truefully I thought that this was expensive but looking at your quote, it seems quite good.

On the quote there were other prices for replacement of spark plugs/ airfilter/ pollen filter.  But the one that I thought fcuk me was the price for the cam belt replacement at 120K miles....£471.29

....Definitely 120k miles according to Handbook. Plugs and Air Filter at 60k.
