How to change the oil on a Mk3 VR6 ?

Just gone to change the oil and noticed the filter seems to be concealed
Is it straight forward as ive never done one like this before

Unfortunately this is a dealer only job, requiring engine removal.  Expect to pay around ?400 plus parts.

just done one on the vr6 for the 2nd time.....

the filter is one of the new types which bosch says cuts down on polution...... more like it makes a mess.......

undo sump plug as normal......... let oil drain and then
you need either a star or allen key bit...... to undo the small plug i think once this is unscrewed oil drains out of the filter.... and then you need a big 39mm ratchet bit to undo the plastic bit and this just screws off and the filter sits inside this......

i just helped my bro with his .... he did it i just passed him tools........

before doing it find out if you need either a allen key or star bit to undo the centre filter plug, we just forced a star bit in thinking it was a star bit.......... and now its gone funny so we need to get a new plug........ only then can we see what thing it needs............

I think you just described it all mate  
I don't bother undoing the drain plug in the filter housing, i just take the lot off
