Remap and DV Fitting and a bit more... :o)

If you are still in Birmingham and are looking for a remap, there is a place called MIJ performance in Walsall.  They are REVO dealers and provide a demo map for 6 hours.  They are open on Saturdays but, they are not vw specalists.

....I would strongly advise anyone with a VW to go to a VAG specialist for anything and especially remapping.

It's when things need attention or go wrong that you need a specialist. If you know about my recent boost leak problems and how they got solved by a VAG specialist (JKM), you'll doubtless agree with me.

Yes, thanks for that.  I have been tempted to use them as they are close to where i am - JKM and the other tuners are very far away.  But if its for peace of mind travelling the distance is a small price to pay i guess.

Well... tbh these are exactly my sentiments but I had to be polite to Topher as he was only trying to help and so I had to bat away the advice without slagging it off

1. Milltek Hi-Flow Spots Cat and Downflow Pipe with Cat Back System (Resonated) :
DEFINITELY (but consider the APR new one too)

2. K&N Filter :
I would use the one that comes with Carbonio OR buy the Pipercross one RR has.
Im a K&N fan but the oil + MAF issue has never been truly cleared up for me enough for me to buy one

3. Carbonio Intake : Looks good but minimal gains , very much a personal choice

4. ECS Dogbone Mount : DEFINITELY

may I also suggest
WhitelineAntiLiftKit

and less so
Boost guage ? to help review performance, its a great diagnostic tool
Forge DV ? maybe , Im using my guage above to tell me when I need this rather than change it before it splits!

Ooops sorry Topher.... I'm not all there at the moment as I have a screaming banshee hollering in my ear aka a baby.  I assumed MIJ and Midland VW were the same as they both started with M and are both in the Midlands    Have you used Stealth quite a few times as I had heard that some of their best Techs left a couple of years back and they haven't been the same since - it may have been another garage that I'm thinking of though.  Otherwise I wouldn't have hesitated to use them. Their site isn't too impressive though as I tried to get a quote on the Milltek and it doesn't work!

Thanks Phil.  Unfortunately my swinging days are over and I have to try and become a responsible role model for my children - if only you'd asked earlier     

I chose JKM because of RR and others singing their praises on this forum - including  yourself - and have spoken to Keith who seems to know what he is talking about and he had a calming effect on me and I/he talked me out of going the whole hog in one go and getting Stage 2, plus I felt like a greedy spoilt child asking for it all in one go - I'll go back for after a brake and suspension upgrade.   Would be lovely to see Phyllis and yourself again but I'll be there first thing tomorrow morning as they are now closed on Saturdays - they only open on selected Saturdays during the summer I think.

Thanks for that info... its exactly why I posted my list of mods to see what people might say.  I only put the K&N filter down due to its reputation with Mk2 GTIs but wasn't sure what they were like for the Mk5's  I keep hearing about the ITG filter - anyone know what thats like? 

As for the Milltek vs APR exhaust, all I know is that Milltek have an established rep for exhausts and are based in the UK and I know next to nothing about the APR exhaust systems.

Carbonio - the marketing spiel says increasing air flow intake = increase in torque throughout the rev range and a crisper and better throttle response which is why I am buying it.  Plus it looks good

Boost gauge while useful looks a bit too boy racerish/Jap Crap to me - although it looks fine on the GT-R
