rear brake problem

my 1988 8v GTI is having serious rear brake problems! it has discs and i cant get it up to power for MOT. thought caliper pistons ad seized so tried new ones (calipers) still same, bled system twice still same, changed master cylinder still no joy!!! any suggestions?

Ive spent today taking the old corroded brake pipes and leaking brake reg valve off the car. Maybe you have a similar problem?

yeh pipe to brake calliper was weeping so changed that! had it on mates ramps and brake lines looked in order!

up to power??  Does the handbrake work ok. Is it lowered?

yeh its lowerd and no hand brake is just as bad as foot.

have changed the rear brake bias valve for a new one? old one could be knackered. When bleeding this needs to be clamped. Also have you blead the brakes in the correct order

my friend did the bleading so that is a very gud question! he is a mechanic so im guessing he did! im going to have see him tomorrow! so you think bias valve is next thing 2check? it would make sense as front brakes are spot on!!!

Had the same problem myself which turned out to be the arm on the bias valve had siezed. Deffo check that next.

german sweedish car parts do them for around £35-£40 I think. Sounds like this is your problem
