HI CAN ANYONE HELP MY BOYFRIEND HAS BROUGHT ME A GOLF GTI MARK 3  N REG I NEED TO INSURE IT AND THEY ASK ME WHAT IMMOBILISER I HAVE FITTED AS STANDARD I HAVE NOT GOT THE HAND BOOK ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT IS THE STANDARD MARK THREE FACTORY FITTED IMMOBILSER CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THE MANIFACTURER AND TYPE OF IMMOBILSER IT IS??

Presume it is just the standard VW fit immobiliser, which I dont think is made by anyone in particular and not really that good...since I have had my GTI 80% of insurers have asked me to produce the fitting certificate for my aftermarket Thatcham approved immo otherwise they wouldnt insure me.

yes it is a vw standard fitted immobiliser, when i go to get a quote on the internet htere a lists that i can chose from immobiliser wise. apparently any vw golf gti after 95 have had the same standard immobiliser fitted and apparently it should say what it is in the hand book (which i dont have)

I think you mailed asking this question - sorry for not replying

The immobiliser on it is unlikely to  be an approved one so you are not going to find it on the lists. You would also need a VSIB certificate to prove it was professionally installed. If your insurers need you to have one, your best bet cost wise, would be a Clifford Virtual Key or Toad Laserkey. Both about 150 max inc fitting and the vital certificate.

i have a meta 36t (delisted cat 2) on my 97 valver. Officially, the system is cat 2 and insurance friendly.

seems to be a common make if the system is vw fitted...

Same here...got a Meta M36T2 immo, although this was already on here when I got the car. When insurers asked for the installation certificate my local Meta dealer was kind enough to provide (free of charge) a verification certificate
