Standard GTI remap advice
« on: 07 November 2008, 16:34 »
Hi All,

I know this topic has been covered numerous times but I can't find a definitive answer to my question.  I have a stock mkV GTI (manual) and looking at used residuals I've now decided to keep it and upgrade it rather than looking at a new car.  My question is what is a good remap package for my car thats gives a good power increase but is still easy to live with?  I've got a bit to spend so would like to do the exhaust and don't mind a few other items if required to avoid any power bottlenecks (I'd say budget around 1500-2000).  Also its still under warranty so I think one of those switchable maps would be good?

So can someone recommend a package and a one-stop-shop to get it done.  Location is immaterial as I'm in the Isle of Man so have to travel anyway.

Thanks

Joe

get the ferry over to liverpool or heysham and get your self to awesomegti in manchester.

carbonio intake
apr re-map

total would be around 1600, then if your wanting more power, fuel pump intercooler will see you to stage 2

I've been asking myself the self-same question for ages!  Having monitored this and other forums - and RR seems to know his stuff  - this package seems to be just about right, from what appears to be a very reputable and professional outfit.  Some time in the next few months...

....Thankyou!! Flattery will get you everywhere!

I've just spent the whole day at JKM sorting out my turbo problem. They've done quite a lot of the engine mods on my car and I trust them totally as VAG specialists.

They are a small family business of genuine enthusiasts.

From personal experience and excellent results  :smug: I'd go for a full TB Milltek and a Superchips Bluefin re-map. I have found Superchips to be fantastic to deal with and Im really pleased with the results. The beauty of the Bluefin unit is you can swap maps to suit you, and updates can be done on-line via Superchips server.

Oh and a larger air intake and free flowing air filter are a must to!

REVO software is very good for the TFSi.

As for JKM, well they are very well favoured by me too.  They look after a very, very nice Corrado which comes from the IoM IIRC.
