will g60 head fit on 8v gti engine if so worth it or not

i have an agg block with pb head fitted and was wondering will g60 head fit on and line up with the manifolds
if so would there be any advantage in regards to bigger valves better flow etc or would it be a waste of time

I'm probably quite wrong - but doesn't the G60 have a low compression head to compensate for the supercharger?

I reckon you're right, Ben.

Exhaust ports on the back are the same spacing as the 8V.

G60 head is a direct swap, same combustion area.  G60 low compression is made up with piston shape
theres not much in it though apparently the ports are a bit bigger but I've not seen one in the flesh.  They also say very late MK2 digis got the same head casting too, but we all know 'they' say quite a lot of things that turn out to be rubbish

The G60 has sodium filled zaust valves and the head is heat treated, apart from that not that much advantage fitting one, if you can find one cheap by all means go for it but its not gonna offer you massive power over a normal GTI head.  The cam is of no use on a n/a engine either but chuck your old one in and off you go.

it all depends what G60 the head is off,  PG  ( the common one )  will fit  has sodium filled valves and heat treat ect.   the 1N  iirc   it the RALLYE g60 engine has some more differnaces,    diffrent size  headbolts and apperntly diffrent alloy.

be carefull with G60 heads tho, g60's have a habbit of cracking there heads,   look carefully between the valves on cyls 1 & 2

its currently on ebay at £21 but if like said it turns out to be cracked its a waste of money so do you recon i  would be better off buying some carbide burrs and having a go at porting my spare head

Yes! If there are no gains in fitting a G60 head, then TBH, don't bother. Just modify yours up. You can get big valves fitted to yours anyway although you will be paying for it. You will gain some power but at a trade for torque.

once you start porting out the head it makes no difference what head you start with, as the only performance increase comes from slightly largr ports as std.

if you go far enough performance wise  the sodium filled exhaust valve can be a help,  get more flow past a normal valve tho
