8v - 16v Gti
« on: 30 May 2004, 23:43 »
Hi Guys

Newbie here  ;D

I currently own a Punto GT which is soon getting booted and I need to get myself a MK2 Gti

I have been after one for ages

Could someone tell me the main differences between the 8v and 16v GTi, power - handling. Servicing costs, difference in trim etc etc etc

Just want to make sure I buy the right one  8)

Thanks
Dale

If you go Punto GT to GTI - make sure its 16v. Much as the 8v is a really good car (apparently) you will take a performance hit.

what do you mean apparently? they are good cars just not as quick as a 16v, do you want start a new thread see if we can hit 100 pages?  :P

although my 8v is quicker than vedubgti16v's 16v  :P

thanks for the reply guys

I have read about 10 pages of that topic and its all the same kind of stuff, Im looking for 8v-16v 0-60, Horse power difference and any difference in trim

im thinking the 16v will be the best for me as Im coming from a 1.4 GT 140bhp light as hell and would beat most stock Mk2 Golf's

Also I must have lecy windows, I hate handles  ;)

Also how much will I have to pay for a Mk2 fairly standard in good condition?

Im selling my GT for 3k and dont wanna spend all that on a Golf

Thanks
