Hello all
I have a golf GTI 16v KR engine 139hp (no cat). It has The mechanical injection (k-jtronic, I think it is called). One day it started burning a lot of fuel and the CO emission level went up the roof (6.8% and more  ??? ) . It smells bad and at low RPM the motor is ringing. I went to the garage and the electrical system checked ok and so did the filter and the fuel distributor.
What could have gone wrong?
Please save me?  :-\

Yes it has been done. But eventually I went to an expert in mechanical injections and he found out that the fuel distributor has to be replaced. After he replaced it and re tuned the engine, all came to normal, but he suggested me to replace the bosch injectors as well. In Israel they are extremely expensive. Do you know were can I get them from in a lower price?
Thanks..
