Dizzy cap I reckon aswell. Used to get the exact same problems in my old golf. Very under powered and ran like sh*te. Next dry day It would be fine again. WD40 used to solve. On one ocassion had the same symptoms on a dry day and turned out to have a slight crack in the dizzy and it was starting to ark under load causing the same symptoms that you are describing
