Revo help please
« on: 30 October 2008, 11:39 »
Hi there...ok firstly let me freely admit that this sorry situation was my fault...but wasn't helped by a stroppy sales person.

I recently purchased Revo stage one, after having the 5 hour trial. So far so good.

To be honest over the next 10 days I wasnt exactly enamoured by the actual map, I had contemplated going back to the dealer and asking them if they could check that everything was ok and that it was optimally set. I still held faith in Revo, I know their reputation and the praise it gets on here.

Anyhoo, personal circumstances took over (I dont want to discuss them here) and I also needed to take my car to VW for a wee repair and I was going to be without my car for about 3 weeks due to work commitments.  I therefore took the car back to request that as I was going to be without the use of my car for this time, could they remove the map and refund my money.

At first they said they would remove the map but there would be no refund and would put it back on later...well thinking hard about this didn't really want to use up my 30 day refund/trial period like this. So, I wasn't happy and reminded them of the 30 day no quibble refund.

Anyhoo, the attitude of the assistant wasnt great and rather than help me he got very stroppy.  I therefore decided to take the stance that I no longer wanted the map as I was not happy with the performance....therefore refund please....their attitude got worse...however I dug my heels in and demanded my refund.

Anyway, they eventually caved and removed or at least disabled the map.  However since then I have noted a marked down turn in fuel economy.  Do you think it possible that the muppets have messed with my ecu settings to screw me up, would this be possible?

My nearest revo dealer (and I am NOT going back to the original above) is about 150 miles away. I might still go there and get it reflashed, I havent made my mind up. :undecided:

I have kind of shot myself in the foot, and as I say largely my own fault but the "shop assistant" wound me up so much I threw my toys out of the pram.

Can I readily take the car back to VW and get it reflashed? If so, how much will it cost?

Get REVO to sort it. Email their HQ direct, they're always interested to learn about unhelpful resellers.

oh dear! cheeky, shouldnt have argued about money back..

i dont see why VW couldnt, when i asked they said when they do software updates it would remove a map again, just tell them to do it at ur repair.

Vtec setup a discount for the 7th 8th for £400 revo all in. :) its in other trade and discounts...

May do...not sure how much in the right I was though...they were saying that the refund is not for people who change their mind suddenly...which I argued wasn't the case.

If the seller had been helpful I would have returned 3 weeks later to get it redone at an eyewateringly high price of £585. As a result....no revo, bad feeling, no winners.

Yep the GB sounds great...however the journey down south and back......haven't written that out totally yet.

feel for you mate

i have had good CS from the place your talking about, swapped an exhaust system for me once it was fitted and too loud, but that's another story

If you are determined to get Revo then find someone not too far away with a dyno and more experience

The other options you have with a dyno nearby is Starperformance in Kikcaldy and a GIAC map

I've had a remap (not  GIAC) and other work done by them and would reccomend them in a second
sure Keith would as well, they have years of experience

the other point about the car not feeling as good as it was, well it's back to the debate about Revo's version of standard being reflashed and not your actual original map, would be good if that could be cleared up once and for all by Revo
