Mk 1 Golfs

Hey guys im doing a presentation on Golfs as i think there is soooo much to talk about. Was just wondering what engine specs came out in mk1 model. Also anything interesting u guys think i could add then please feel free to reply!!

Am thinking of focusing on the gti as i only have 10min to talk. What engines did they do apart from the gti?

in the gti they done a 1.6 an a 1.8 in mk1's never really seen any other engines in gtis unless u go for the newer ones that can hav 2.0 an whatever else but old skool is better

They did a 16v S mk1, I think it was Otteinger tuned, but it was only available in France. Very rare.

Got some good stuff its actually a really good topic to choose. So far been comparing golfs frome mk1 era to mk5. Now plans are to compare the Gti engine to uquivalent without Gti, do you guys know the top speed and bhp for the 1.8 8v?

If I was at home I could tell you the top speed. As for BHP, 1.6 was 110, 1.8 was 112.

Have a look in the library if you can as I've got the book fourth down on the left(ISBN:1-85223-996-4) in the link below, and it has loads of information in it. That's where I would have got the top speed from if I was at home.
