Head Gasket gone ... what cam?
« on: 29 October 2008, 15:38 »
hello thar!

basically i think the head gasket has gone on the ol girl, my mate is a mechanic (now works for the RAC) so he is taking the golf and doing everything that needs to be done to put her through an mot (also fitting a new cam belt, speedo cable, petrol filter, all the manifold gaskets etc..)

So while the heads off i have been advised it would be a good time for some performance upgrades ... can any one reccomend a good place to buy a performance cam for an 8v Digiphant engine?

thanks :afro:

While the head's off get out a dremel and port match to the inlet and outlet port gaskets.

That should improve the flow through the head and give you a mild gain to maximise the effect of the cam.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Is it just me or are those really cheap compared to UK prices?
I'd be tempted to go for the 276 personally, with an adjustable vernier pully :)
