I went inside and had a coffee with my mate whos one of the salesman and told him why i was back in the dealership again.

Like you said john, the lamp was a third full of water, lucky the water didnt hit the bulbs cus they would of exploded.

I think I have just about had enough of VW! After getting the Golf I decided i would never need to get that lovelly 3series coup I had a deposit on. Seems like after this one I will go over to a brand that value thier customers.. like BMW

....What some people seem to either forget or are ignorant about (rather like their car lease details), is that each dealership is merely a franchise - An independent garage/workshop/reseller who have entered into a formal agreement to exclusively market a vehicle brand in exchange for support and very smart premises with the brand's logo plastered all over it. This extensive badging makes people think that each franchise actually is VW or BMW (or whichever brand), but it's not. Each approved/appointed dealership is no better than they would be as a business if they didn't have the smart premises and logo. Hence the disparity in standards.

So, a BMW dealership may be no better than a VW dealership and vica-versa.

If you are unhappy with a dealership you should contact the UK 'head' office and make a formal complaint. If you don't and only b!tch on a car forum, how are they able to do something to improve standards if they don't know about issues?

Surely the primary choice of your ride is best based on what you think of the model of vehicle on offer. You can always find or change a dealer to trust. Btw, I love BMW's, especially the new X6.

^^ Totally agree with what you said there RR but it does seem that all VW dealerships seem to fall well below the expected levels of service. And the fact that so many people seem to have little bit, but annoying faults only adds to an overall/underlying problem.

Have had some experience of BMW in Leeds and they have been nothing short of brilliant! All in my experience of course... but like yourself RR I am more than happy to sing praises of anyone who treats a customer good. Have had not one good thing to say about VW in over a year of ownership. Its been so dissappointing in fact that i often ignore these small problems in the hope that they would go away. :undecided:

....

Yes, naturally you can only make judgements based on your individual experience and it certainly does appear that too many VW dealerships just don't deserve to be.

I really want to encourage people to complain to VW UK - rationally and properly - so that matters may be improved for everyone's sake.

Which Beemer interests you? There's quite a range to choose from.

Oh trust me, having worked for BMW - there are loads of cr@p dealers that are just as bad as the VW dealers in question in recent threads on here!!

Hi Guys

Been reading this and they have done what I thought they would. Repairing the alloy as a gesture but not admiting to the bonnet (alloy is the cheaper option as they would have a trade price of around £25) by not admiting to the bonnet they have cleared any responsibility that would cost a few hundred to spray and blend.

In future, it is advisable to check your vehicle before you leave as 99% of dealers would take this approach. They have to protect themselves from false claims (I am not saying Steves was false btw) and they blanket everything with this response.

Good luck mate

Martz
Sorry that they have buggered up your car again Phil.!!

Every time I pick my car up I walk around and give it a check over, alloys & body panels, even to the point of getting down and looking for dints along body panels. A habit I picked up doing dealer exchange deliveries as a summer job.
Even though I do this I didn't spot the damage to the interior trim until I got home last time !!. I also get them to write DO NOT WASH on the key tag, they can Vac it if they want to though.

The last few times I have even got the service receptionist to walk around the car with me when I drop it off. The usual answer is "Thats ok Mr. T  we know that you keep your car in good condition".......

Mind you I once picked my MKiv up from a brake service and the garage had damaged 3 wheels!!!!  Now your not telling me the guy who did the work on it didn't know that he had done the damage. It must have cost him more to pay for the wheels to be rapaired that what I had paid him in the first place!!!
