Black plugs kjet 8v
« on: 27 October 2008, 16:47 »
I replaced the plugs on my 8v kjet today and noticed the tips of them are a charcoal black colour, i know this is overfuelling, although the exhaust isnt smoking so it cant be that bad. I changed the rotor arm and dizzy cap the other week but hasnt been driven since - only fired up a few times. Are there any sensors that are prone to effin up the fuel intake? The idle hunts quite abit when cold(did this before i changed cap and arm), but once warm its nice and smooth

thanks for any help

5th inj might casue problems or leaky injectors, but tbh if its running ok, starts fine and fuel economy is ok id not worry too much!

before i changed the plugs the engine would turn over for about 5 seconds and with me giving the throttle a little tickle before it would start. I'll keep an eye on it, fuel economy i dont know about as ive never driven it

if its only been running for short bursts, this would prob cause the carbon buildup as it newver gets hot enough to burn off the carbon from runninjg a bit rich on a cold start?

after cold start  plugs are allways get a light black coating  that burns off once it's warm and been driven.   reading plugs is a dark art  its amazing just how meany ways there is fo rthem to tell you the wrong thing
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

I think the pair of you have cracked it. Ive only ever started it up and let it run for a minute of so since ive got my hands on it so that would explain the sooty plugs. Thanks alot for the insight
