OK car is in for coilover fitting on Friday i have a couple of questions to ask.

If i measure the gap from the centre of the wheel to centre of the arch it is different on the front from what it measures on the back i have forgotten what it measures and the car is in the garage out of the rain at the moment but anyway i remember the back is lower than the front by a couple of cm

Now is this called the
rake i.e. what is the correct terminology for the stance of the car and more importantly does this gap difference between the front and back of the car play an important role and does it have to stay the same for example if i lower it an inch all round then measure the gap the back will still be lower is this correct.
