£380 MILLTEK CAT-BACK?
« on: 26 October 2008, 17:41 »
Well as the title says...

shall i?

RoadRunner Motorsport is only 20mins up the road from me so i can collect and have it fitted by Milltek,Derby within the week.

so many reviews on youtube, many are saying it isnt any louder than stock and will need the high-flow cat and down pipe to make any real changes to the cars performance but thats another £550

only ever heard a milltek on a GTI once before, it was Negs black GTI but i think he has the full system sounded really subtle but deep.

I was close to buying it a few months ago but changed my mind as i didnt think it would do much except look that little bit bigger,

any of you on here please comment if you have the full or just the cat back??

will Miltek fit it for you ?, when i spoke to them a while back they said they didnt do fitting ? (this was not a VW though)

ps tempted to change mine to, but dont want it too loud as the OEM one drives me nuts with a drone at about 1700rpm

Milltek are pretty good, although IMHO quality has lapsed a little recently probably due to them taking on so many new projects.

You cannot fault the customer service.

I've always been dubious of aftermarket exhausts as they have a habit of ruining otherwise nice cars ..... However, the resonated Milltek TBE I heard on an Edition 30 which had been remapped by AmD was barely any different than standard - if at all .... to the point we had been out in the car 15 minutes before the driver reminded me he had the exhaust on the car !!

I was really impressed, and would have one on mine if I could afford it .... and that is from someone who hates noisy exhausts - unless they are on a TVR V8

i had a milltek on my cooper s and it was a really nice sounding thing, made my mini pop on downshifting, but i think they all did that.
milltak has to be my first choice for me on exhaust, but then i can get a blueflame on for a just over half that price

i got non res cat back on my ed 30 and imo sounds just right , i think a resonated cat back will be quieter than standard system if non res is any thing to go by , try jbs in chesterfield they beat roadrunner price for me and they will fit it too  !

JBS have always been great with me. They developed the stage 2+ code on my car and I had the HPFP and Forge I/C fitted there too.

I had the cat back first and thought it was deeper than the original but at cruising speed it was about the same, it was only under full acceleration the difference was apparent. Now Iv'e had the DP and cat the difference is
