Hi, on my last golf I just used a central locking door solinoid (I can't think what it's called now) but the one that you put in for central locking, about ?8ish.  Connect this to a switch, the switch should be the type that is on a spring and always jumps back into start position, if you know what I mean.

Hope that helps, i am still half asleep :)

take care

I think I know what you mean, what im more worried or confused about is where the solenoid connects to in the boot and also where you screw it down or whatever.

Pics would be a great help lol.

Hi, I tried to answer this last night, but for some reason I keep getting logged out everytime I went to post (seems fine now!)]]

Anyway, i did this like 5/6 years back, I don't have any pics unfornately, but from what i remember I got the solinoid in postion (after taing all the trim from inside off) and awhen the solinoid was in it's lowest positon I attached it to the boot oping rod. I then just bolted it on to the metal, I may have used some metal for support (I can't realy remember) If you could take some pics it may jog my memory.

Cheers
