Having the rear Gti badge replaced under warranty next week as its started to bubble, the dealer told me they need it for a while as they have to strip down the boots interior to get to it!. Is this true?, I thought they just stick on, and peel off!???

I am pretty sure its the gti badge and not the boot handle(did hear about them also but mines ok so far!)
Seen genuine Gti badges on ebay and there only adhesive.

I think Gaz is right and the stealer is getting confused between the boot handle.

Yes the left Gti badge on the tailgate. I think when I hand it over I will ask them why they need to rip the boot lid interior apart and make sure they are not screwing with anything else!

I just went into the dealer today as all my wheel centre caps and the vw boot release handle have corroded and have like a white bubbling effect on them, i think it has been named 'white worm'.

My car is Jan 2005 but the guy would not say it was covered until it was looked at by the mechanics i think he meant just in case it was careless damage which it isnt.
Anyway going in on Friday to get it looked at so fingers crossed it should be ok as i dont fancy payin out! He also said they would have to access the badge from inside the boot and the whole mechanism will need to be changed! i just thought it peeled off but i will have to see what happens!

Mark.  :undecided:
Looking for a new GTI!!!

Make sure you demonstrate the condition of the car before you give it in and get them to sign to confirm.

Otherwise you'll end up with mysterious marks and dents on your boot and bonnet, and gouged out alloys! :embarassed:
