Bluetooth pairing adaptor for factory phone kit
« on: 23 October 2008, 14:47 »
Does anyone have one of these or know if it will work in UK cars with a factory phone kit?

My car is fitted with a factory phone kit but the cradle I have is not compatible with my handset (there seems to be a poor range of cradles available through VW).  The existing cradle has bluetooth built in so I can use my phone in the car but its a bit unsightly being so big and I was wondering if the above bluetooth adaptor is compatible?  It certainly looks to me like it would fit physically but having supplied the part number: 3C0051435PA to my local stealer they assure me that it is not available through VW UK?!?  I can however get one on ebay from Germany but would like to know it is compatible before parting with cash.

Yes these adapters do work with the original VW factory fitted cradle based car kit

Cheers Steve!  Pity they're not available through VW UK.

I've seen one working myself, so just to echo Steve's comments it does work.

Hi Stu,

How much is the Skoda bluetooth kit, if its not much more than this adaptor I might chose it instead as I understand that it offers better integration with the MFD (phonebook etc).  Also is it easy to fit as i'm in Northern Ireland and it wouldn't be feasible for me to have it fitted by yourself.  Are there any parts of my existing factory phone prep that I can re-use or does it all go in favour of the Skoda kit?

Clive

I have a feeling you can use the existing wiring.  Send me a PM/email with your chassis number so I can see what's in your car at the moment.

I got one from ebay and it works perfectly with my nokia n95,....I would be interested to hear what Stu has to say about your wiring as I would seriously be tempted if there wasn't too much work/cost involved especially noting that most of the wiring should be there considering it's a factory fit bluetooth unit,....let us know how you got on.

Conversely it might be you are the one better placed to help tel, as you are reasonably local you could try plugging one into yours before Clive has one sent to Ireland.
