MFSW gubbins...
« on: 21 October 2008, 20:37 »
Right,

I've got a non MFSW in my Ed30...
I've just won a MFSW (standard GTI) on ebay...

So can I just swap the bits with buttons into my steering wheel or do I need to swap the whole steering wheel over?

hmmm, bit more involved than I thought it would be lol!

How would I know if I already have the right circuit board etc...
vrStu added CC to my car without changing any circuit boards... is that an indication?

Pm vRStu (stu), he would be the best person to Put that question to. If it isnt, stick it on Ebay and with the winnings get a Ed30 multiwheel to keep it looking Factory   Its a cake walk to remove the wheel but to the Wire in behind the airbag etc might be a tough one.

If you have to change the wheel, then you'll lose the red stitching too!!

I'm presuming that both wheels are off a manual too ?

I'm pretty sure that the newer cars have the comfort module that controls the mfsw.
I asked at the dealer and they wanted £80 EACH for the two buttons!

See, I was thinking that the buttons are movable onto my wheel...

The same... but with the "blank" bits instead of the button bits...
I would imagine that for cost savings, there is only 1 wheel casting (the metal bit) and then they share as many parts between each wheel as they can etc.

Hence I'm hoping to swap my "blank" bits for the button bits etc to keep my wheel.
