I thought the one that turned the heated part on and off was green/white, but I could be wrong. I don't even have the car here to check. I followed the green/white wire off my heated rear screen back towards the fuse box and spliced it in there as close as I could to keep it tidy.

Earth the brown - obvious enough.

I just connected the power straight to the powered terminals on the fuse box. my mirrors are always live and work without the engine on.

From the looks of the ebay description you need to buy heated glass if you want them heated. this is expensive. probably why the auction was so cheap. Laying the loom can be tricky with the dash in. but you know me, I just take the dash out to do anything ;D

the switch goes were the drivers side adjust use to live and you should have a grommet to go in the other side hole. good luck finding one if they didn't give you one. if your switch dies like mine did ones from passats plug straight in.

I just need a motor but don't know where to get one, all the ebay sales seem to be for the full kit.

The best guide for fitting electric mirrors I have found is here: http://www.gtiworld.fsnet.co.uk/e_w_m.htm

If you're after a motor I have one spare!  Email me if you still need it.
If you're ever down the scrappy the motors from a older Passat will fit straight in to the MK2 mirror housing, and are more likely to have them fitted.  The glass wont tho unfortunately.

Oh and if you need 6/5 pin plugs for your loom check on RS components and look for '44 Series Multipole Connectors' top quality, waterproof and even come with 2 sets of pins in case you break them or need to rewire em later on!

update! this is a piece of piss. connect the yellow wire to a live circuit (i used a empty ingnition live on the back of the fusebox) and the brown to an earth (plate near fuse box above clutch pedal is good) and then connect the white and green one to the white and green wire on the heated rear window switch and bobs your uncle.

the motor isnt available from vag but the whole mirror is.

the blanking plug is as well for .76p +vat the part number is 321 867 163

cheers peeps

Oh yeah, if you can't get down to VW for the blanking plug, the rubber gromit you have to remove from the car door/body (where the rubber boot thing goes when you have central locking/electric windows etc) to route the wires through is a perfect fit :)
