Rich, have you tried this stuff?  Might be worth a shot?

20w! You'd be waiting 5 minutes for the oil to circulate at start up!

I'm going to use it in my old Rover 25 1.1 that my gf is using. Someone here might be short of cash and need an oil change.

My 1.8T aum got serviced 3 months ago, car had been running perfect until the service, then the next day i had complete power loss and it would go above 30mph, turns out the guy at the garage put the wrong oil in it, he used 10w-30 instead of the fully synthetic stuff, killed my turbo completely!!

stillnot got my car running properley, since the service i have bought a new manifold, a new turbo, a new oil pump, a new MAF sensor and last week my turbo seized again so look like another turbo will be on the way, so please please make sure you use the right oil, trust me you dont wanna go through all this sh*t

Don't see any point in using cheaper oil. Most important part for the engine.

am i the only person in the world who thinks castrol magnatec actually destroys engines?

Magnatec is actually a very high quality semi-synthetic - and is considerably better than most 'so called' fully synthetics - especially those from American oil companies.  Though specifically for the 1.8 turbo, I'd be more inclined to recommend Castrol Edge fully-synth.  But for any non-turbo mota, Magnatec is purrrrfect.!

okie dokie part number is VZGB 115 QLB 00 406

Eeeek - that part number is for the Quantum Synta - a 10w40 semi-synthetic, at a tenner for 5 litres!!!  But what is scary is that it has NO VAG petrol engine approval - so drain that sh!t out and put in some decent lube!
