Demon Tweeks Winge
« on: 25 May 2004, 17:52 »
My Audi A4 needs new rear shocks, my trusty local motor factors quoted ?60 each, but I thought I'd have a quick look to see of I could get some cheaper after-market ones.

Went on the Demon Tweeks site, sure enough there are some Koni or Spax jobs for between ?40 and ?200, depending on model - 'GSX rear adjustable dampers'.
But, it says, ' this product is unavailable to buy on-line'
so I rang them up.

Mistake

I have never spoken to such a rude person before whilst making a telephone enquiry.

The conversation was long and strained, but the jist was the guy didn't seem familiar with the product I was describing as "GSX rear adjustable dampers, made by Koni or Spax, for an Audi A4" off the top of his head, nor did he volunteer to discover the part.
So I ended up looking myself on the net, whilst he's saying stuff like
"Has it loaded yet, only I have other customers call's queing up"
and
"I can't wait indefinitely"

In the end I just said "****-it mate, I'll try somewhere else" and hung up.

Needless to say I won't be trying to persuade D.T to sell me anything ever again, and I would urge others to steer clear.

In the end I found I could buy both shocks for ?100, incl VAT and P + P from Buypartsby.co.uk

DT aren't very good at all. they made a right pigs ear of knocking the lip back on my arches. my bodyshop did the 4th arch and it was in a completely different league quality wise.
