At motorpoint, for example...

A DSG 5 door is less than £18,000, delivery miles.

I paid just less than that for a 55 plate (MY 06) in March!      In terms of financials I wish i had held on a couple of months. Still ...... its been fun..and mine is a fully loaded DSG, and I do love my toys....and lets face it..its not some poverty spec, potentially rust ridden, import from Cyprus....OK, i will probably get bollocked for having this opinion but there were examples of motorpoint imports showing early signs of rust and other signs that they had been sitting around for a good while in less than optimum conditions.

Ok to head off the angry replies from those with imports.....I am sure that there are fine import examples around, and I have purchased imports myself, direct from a beemer dealer mind you in Holland though not from a car supermarket.

Still bloody good value, if you think this is bad....check out the R32 prices these days!

BTW I know a bloke who only about 4 months ago bought an 08 GTI, manual! for £25k!!!

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

Looking at it a different way I sold some HBOS shares to buy the car in April for £19,600.
If I had waited 'till today to buy a motorpoint £18,000 car the shares would only be worth £1,960.
Just enough to buy a Mk3.
