my torqe peacked at  5890  rpm

going to avoid a torque argument with a heathy g60 tho, it's boosted it's going to make torqe.

reliablity wise the g60 lumps themselves are pritty much bomb proof  but big end shells are a weakness.   the glader howerver ain't so reliable.   it has to be said in it's defence that they are quite efficent and they deliver boost in a really nice way but,    there are sooo meany crap ones out there.  how often do you find a G  that really just dosent perform as it should do and is in desperate need of a rebuild ,  or a rebuilt g  that eats itself vurtualy straight away.    and they do require a bit to often for my likeing
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Found in MK3 GTi's
Seat Ibiza/Toledo
16V 2.0 Passats?
Corrado 2.0 16V

and probably a few others.
Passat B5.5 2.3 V5 170, with all the extras.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

I have a genuine G60 and I wouldn't have another one. I have heard that if you want 16v upgrades, then you can fit a 16v 2.0 from a MKIII, and then fit your original 1.8 16v camshafts. The 2.0 unit produces 150BHP standard, but with 1.8 cams, the BHP increases somewhat.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable about swaps could enlighten this response with figures/corrections.

16v  cam arguments       i prefer abf  cams over kr  ,   abf cam has more lift but less duration  gives about same max bhp  but pulls better in low rpm   (  given that everything else is the same )  9a cams  are the sub optimal ones

got a dyno print posted up somwhere  on here.  think i can get 185 before have to look at the head or cams.   am going to try get an NA 200 +

That'll be the 9a in the rado

Passats also had the 9a, although the later ones may well have had the abf too?

So realistically is it much of a mission to drop an abf in a mk2? If its not then I'm sure my brother and I can work it out. The one big question I have to add to this thread is what do you then do about exhausts? does a mk3 aftermartket system fit or what?  :embarassed:
