Good choice of car there

There have been a fair few threads on trails of thought about running in the motor. My take on it is this:-
1. Always warm the car up before giving it the beans (water to 90degrees plus about a minute on top for the oil to reach temp too)
2. Always let the car idle for 30 seconds or so before turning off the engine.
3. For the first couple of hundred miles, heep the engine under 3k revs
4. For the next 300 miles, keep it under 4k revs
5. Up to 800 miles keep it under 5k revs
6. Up to 1k revs keep it under 6k revs
If you do need to overtake during the running in period, don't worry as it won't hurt it - as long as you aren't doing it all the time

Bear in mind this is how I would run in my GTI, some are exponents of the "thrash it from day 1" school of running in, but I'd never subscribe to this view.
