It is indeed a sign of the times. Mini production at Plant Oxford is having a 4 week shutdown at christmas instead of 2 due to a lack of orders and both Landrover and Aston Martin have dropped to 4 day weeks to stop over production. Also a lot of dealers are cutting back on staff and a few are closing down. There'll be some proper bargains floating around by christmas but only a bargain if you don't have a nearly new car to get rid of. For those looking for their first newish car purchase it'll be good times!

Cookie, your doing the same as me. I was planning on going to my dealer as I need something looking at and was going to see how complicate it would be for me to get an ED30 as my finance is with VW. Turns out I didnt need to go in the end, not sure if thats a good or bad thing at the moment lol.

been chatting with the dealership and it really isnt worth doing at present due to the defacit i would have to front (due to finance) on my car, thing is even though as ive said its the one i want im not going to be silly about it and i bet it will still be there in a few months time so i might give them a shout back then, see if they are getting desperate!
im happy enough with mine anyways, just needs a few mods!

cheers for everyones help (especially Phil) mucho appreciated :afro:

I really would look to sell private.. there seems to be a little bit of a hang up on doing this for some reason. not just on here but previously I have had to sell cars for friends and family who have previously only dealt with stealers.

Autotrader really is the best place still... and if you were to advertise and the best price a dealer gives you + £500, no doubt you will find a sale very quickly. Made myself quite a packet doing so too

Hi Guys
New on this forum!...............we collected our Tornado Ed 30 last week having done a good deal P ex on a GT tdi 140. It's definitely a buyers market and I wouldn't be afraid to push the dealer! Do your homework first, we checked out the VW forecourt price on our P ex and used that to get another 1K for it. Also they see the MK 5 as an outgoing model so keen to move the stock by new year. If you want an Ed 30 as we did (and new at that) time is now!! Really love the car..........only done 200 miles in it! We also shopped around on the net for ' Gap' insurance. Then when we confronted the dealer with a £200 saving over his price he matched that too!!! Just goes to show the dealers are struggling too!!!  Don't give in too easily

Cheers Steve B

Good advice there steve b!! Always shop around on the net first and get your dealers to match the price. Its always good to have that in hand as a they will not want to loose a sale in the current climate

p.s. Enjoy the new ride!!
