Animal Attack
« on: 17 October 2008, 20:57 »
Not sure what's happening this year, but animals keep committing suicide by throwing themselves in front of my Golfs...    I've never run over anything before but I'm now beginning to wonder if I'm going to become a serial animal killer  :embarassed:

Kill 1:  On the way back from GTI International some retarded pigeon flew against the windscreen of my Mk1 GTI threatening to ruin its originality by cracking the windscreen.  Thankfully, the windscreen survived.  The pigeon is now in heaven/hell.  Golf GTI 1 - Animals 0

Kill 2: September 1st, 2am in the morning, I'm knackered after driving 2000 miles around the UK in a week and am getting back to Ipswich in the Edition 30 after a gruelling Sunday/early Monday morning finale starting in Leeds, via Manchester and Birmingham. Anyway, I am doing 40 in a 50 zone when suddenly a rabbit leaps in front of me and I have only have just enough time to violently swerve out of the way... which of course I don't because that could have endangered me and the passengers at that speed.  So I have to ram the rabbit and literally feel its body crushed by the front spoiler and then bounce a couple of times against the underneath of the car before passing through.  Again, thankfully the spolier wasn't damaged, but a bit bloodied.  The rabbit was pulverised.  Golf GTI 2 - Animals 0

Kill 3:  Today on the M3, I am doing a steady indicated 70-80mph when another pigeon (probably part of the some hit squad arranged by the relations of the previous pigeon) swoops down and I only have time to duck my head as I think its definitely coming through the windscreen this time, but somehow manages to miss it and instead smashes against the passenger side mirror taking the mirror clean off, and leaving a bloody and feathery trail against the side of the Edition 30 - thankfully the paintwork wasn't scratched    Golf GTI 2 - Animals 1

Just wondering whether I will have to replaced the whole side part or just get another mirror put on?

Oh.. I forgot, the windscreen almost got smashed when a pebble (certainly sounded like a pebble on impact) hit the windscreen on Tuesday and cracked the windscreen - that needs replacing too... looks like the VW Edition 30 hit squad are trying the death by a thousand cuts method on my car.

Well that pigeon I hit today was near Southampton - about 20 miles away - if he doesn't show up again....

All I can say is that it didn't suffer - I am sure the impact killed it instantaneously... and if not then the line of cars and lorries behind me must have finished the job off quite quickly   :lipsrsealed:

Joking aside, must be that Motorway, near Winchester my Sky Van with its ladders and Racking decided to Harpoon 2 Pigeons together with me in the fast lane doing 80mph!, wasnt nice because they both empailed themselves in the front of my ladders and roof ladder and dripped all their Guts over my windscreen the rest of the journey home!. Wasnt nice and also ran outa screen wash at the time so made alot of mess!!!.

Maybe it was their way of telling me what they thought of a vauxhall!
