DSG Problem
« on: 17 October 2008, 20:34 »
I remember a few of you guys lucky and intelligent to have DSG ( :lipsrsealed: ) had some teething problems with the box. One of the issues was the kangeroo jump effect when moving off and at very low speed < 10mph.  The problem has got worse on mine so its going into the dealers on Monday.

The Master Tech who looked at it a week ago when I booked it in said he had seen this issue before and it required a software update - but wanted to keep it for 2 days   The thing is I am sure some of you with a similar problem had some of the DSG ancillary mechanicals replaced so I am wondering whether it really is just a software issue.  Also, the problem seems to get worse the longer the car has been driven (i.e. when it is warmed up).  In warmer weather it is more noticeable - or that might just be me imagining things.  Also, it seems to be more pronounced when moving off on an uphill gradient.  I suppose I'll know if the Tech is right (or talking out of his backside) after I collect the car on Wednesday/Thursday.  I'm going to make sure its got 30 miles of fuel left in the tank so they don't cane the poor thing while its in their hands

I have never had this on my ED30 DSG fortunately but a MK2 TT S-tronic I had on hire earlier this early had this undocumented "feature" and it made it horrible to drive in slow traffic.

As I only had it on hire for just over a week I didn't worry about it and unsurprisingly Hertz weren't bothered either when I return it

Hope you get it all sorted without any grief.

When I had my AUDI A3 TDI DSG it had a problem with uneven idle, stalling  and a kangaroo effect (almost like a learner driver does in a manual before they've gained control of the clutch) at low speed. It turned out to be a faulty controller unit for the DSG and was replaced under warranty. When I searched on't internet I found others who had similar issues, but not always stalling. Maybe this is where the fault lies with yours Illyun?

Thanks for the quick replies guys... I suspect it might be that Hurdy which is why I wanted confirmation.  It will give me something to suggest when I drop off the car.  Can we hold a group prayer session that my car comes back unscratched and with no extras like a dent   I reckon it will need a miracle to come back from the stealers unscathed

I've taken mines in twice for this ! it happens worse in reverse, almost like a chugging , and the dealers saying there is nothing wrong with it, but they have made it worse.

What is the actual problem, just software or hardware ?

They are going to get it on Monday

ive not had the kangeroo effect, but the one thing ive complained off since havin Phylis, compared to the other 2 GTi's, is that it wants to do

4-5 mph just by releasing the foot brake!. The other GTi's were never as fierce.
