There's 30 horses more in the ED30.

Unless you remap the stock GTi. Then it'll feel and run better than the ED30. How much price difference are you looking at? Chances are a few addons + remap will be better in terms of price than paying for a more expensive car.

LOL, he had an R32 and then swapped for the ED30

Ok - I see. He had the "R32 bug", but he's cured for now...

Nah... never cured.  The moment I set eyes on my new Ed30 and then looked back at the R32 where I'd left it sitting in the dealer forecourt, I had an uneasy feeling that I'd made a mistake.  It was confirmed as soon as I started the Ed30 engine and proceeded to drive off.  The Ed30 is a fantastic car - better than the R32 in many respects - but it just can't compete with that sound   In some ways I am glad I did part-ex the R32 because now its dropped in value like a stone and I am circling the autotrader at the moment looking to pick up one within a month  and I will keep the Ed30 (the wife will drive it locally and keep the mileage down) and the R32

I have a cure for you Illyun, its called a Turbo back non resonated Milltek  I can confirm the sound is out of this world  And the beauty is when you want to cruise it's no different from standard.

Not really got a set budget but my needs are 5 doors and leather. If its got them I'm happy, i reckon I could get a good one for around £12k maybe less with some money for mods

I bought a new, un-registered Edition 30 for much less than £19K... it's an EU import BUT full UK spec...
