Help cant get rear wheel off

I started painting my front calipers,when i got to the rear wheel it wont come off took all bolts off i think its cause of the cap in the middle,i didnt have one at the front but there is one at the back its a cap and its right in the middle tryed taking it off with screw driver but cant ny ideas?

its only the 5 bolts mate - sounds like its rusted on - common problem really

get some axle stand in place along with the jack and use a mallet to beat it off from the back of the wheel

clean up your hubs and apply a tiny amount of copper grease to stop it happening again  :smiley:

Dammit, beat me too it. Mate had the same problem the other day. Jack and a hammer and it was off in 5 mintues.

I had this problem on my dads mk3. I just got the spare wheel and bashed (thats a technical term by the way) against the wheel that would come off and it just dropped off.

but i'm saying you DONT REMOVE THE CAP!!  there's no bolts behind it!

yeah just stch on with rust take handbrake off and hit wheel with mallet rotate wheel and whack it again (so it comes of squarely) put something on the ground or get someone to catch the wheel or when it comes off it may fall over and scratch the alloy
