just bought the insurance for my newly acquired Pirelli!

I'm 22, and I too don't have any no claims coz I have not had my own policy until now.

I went with Bell, its £1247 for the year (12 months, not the 10 months bonus accelerator thing). I wasn't getting much better tbh and some places wouldn't touch me until I had 1 years NCB. I paid that in one fell swoop though!

Thats seem real reasonable. Im also 22 and went on my dads insurance and its was a snip under £1100. Didnt even consider getting my own insurance built up as I thought it would be too expensive. VW Insurance quoted me £10,500 for the year

If I had my own insurance I would have had to pay for it..so having my dad on the insurance and letting him borrow it every now and then he paid for it

I let him drive it everyday, well reverse it out the drive and park it up so he can get his car out
sorry but my vaux looks far better than the mk5 gti, thats why i bought it  faster too

I found out the hard way on my MK4 that having a parent as the named driver doesnt work. I paid cheaper insurance on the MK4 but am paying for it now on the MK5 as im starting with 0NCB. We all have to start somewhere, my advice is to just get it over and done with and bite the bullet and get on your own policy. Your going to have to do it sooner or later and no matter how old you are its going to cost a fair bit to insure a group 17+ car with 0NCB (not to mention being 21 aswell :().

Worth every penny imo :D

If you do get insurance in your own name add your dad as a named driver to your policy.
It works wonders.

Think I will start it as soon as this years insurance is up..he said I have to pay next year so I may aswel get my NCB started.

Does it matter if im the first driver and not the registered keeper?

Originally I was the registered keeper but heard the insurance can kick up a fuss if im not the first driver so changed it into my dads name.

It just limits the number of policies available to you.

Yep, got dad and the old dear on mine. You dont want to know how much they wanted with JUST me on the policy

I would suggest you change it over to your name, would look a bit odd otherwise. Just my opinion tho.
