Side lights
« on: 13 October 2008, 19:22 »
Hi guy's

Before I trash the golf completely does anyone have a dam clue as to how get the side light bulbs out of the headlight lense?

I can get a grip on the lamp connector but just doesn't want to come out. I turn it clockwise / anticlockwise but rotates inside the lense, I cant seem to pull connector and bulb out the lense !!

Please don't tell me I've got to take it into the garage because they have a special tool to get it out !!!
Never had a car so dam rediculous to change a bulb.

Any experiance in this matter would be gratefully welcome.

Dan

There's no special tool. just clip in IIRC
Best bet is to take the bumper off and remove the headlight.

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly
You can do it without taking the bumper off, its just tricky.
I took my bumper off when I changed all my bulbs and it took me less than an hour.
Here's a guide to remove the bumper

Thanks for the pic's Steve but to pull the the headlight from the car you'd need to disconnect the wires from the back of the headlight its self and it is the wire connector to the bulb that won't come out the rear of the lense.

Hi Rhyso,

I have just had a look in me Haynes manual and managed to find a section on it, says turn anti-clockwise and pull out.
I'll give it a go tomorrow when I got some day light lol

Thanks chap
