With a 1.3 I'd say you should be getting in the 30's with a well setup engine.
My 1.6 gets about 30mpg atm and about 36mpg with redex

Black boot polish FTW

Try T-cut to bring back the red.

You get engine degreaser to clean under the bonnet. Once you've clean it up get heat resistant paint and paint the engine up.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

1.6 Driver = 27-31

1.8 Digi = 29.5-37.5

1.8 16v = 26.2-33.9

Woked the Digi and Valver out by the MFA over 10 weeks each and above is the worst to the best. Worked the Driver out by ££ and miles!  The 1.6 Driver being the worst on fuel IMO..... also the Driver being the slowest!

Sorry but that rubbish! Not that I dont believe you, but that I get 35+ out of my gti 8v, and you cant get close with a 1.6!

Harsh, but I had to go through it when I was 17 with my 1.3 mk2!
Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

on my 1.6 driver im not really sure but on a k-jey gti 8v ive had mine up to 39.1 and lowest after a good, fast run, about 26.0
but i do think its roughly the same though as the amount off petrol ive put in isnt too different
