Porsche uprights and brakes on mk2?!

hi all,

i have had a fairly productive day today, lots of new ideas floating around my head!

i went off this morning with the intention of looking for new uprights and hubs for my 1991 8v, as i wish to upgrade to a 280mm setup.

well first off i found this there....



and it has these uprights and hubs..........



which i believe will be fine with 16v calipers and g60 carriers?!

then while looking through the parts pile i found some fairly new vw calipers, unsure what they are off though?!.....










would these work?!

while there i also found a disk and caliper, says its off an audi 80, looks big, id guess 280mm?!






is this set up the same as a g60?!

then after getting home my dad dragged out a box from under the bench with these in it..........








im now thinking about fitting the Porsche boxter upright, re-machined to use the mk2 driveshafts and hubs (to keep it 4 stud), then fitting the audi 80 (g60?!) discks, 280mm instead of the porsche 300mm disks, and fitting the porsche calipers.

im really after peoples opinions on this?! comments?! and if anyone has done anything similar?!

that ain't going to work      audi are 4x112   vw 4 x 100.   also that porsch hub will take a lot of effort to fit correctly and quitea bit of thinking will be required to get the suspention gemoetry optimal,  use the vw 256 hub with g60 diskd and machene up a calliper carrier or some adaptor brackets to get to fit the porsch callipers to the 256 or 280 vw carriers.

the easy calliper upgrade is nissan 200 sx ones

cheers danny_p, been thinking about it last few hours and pretty much decided the same!

so are the uprights/hubs on the passat the right ones?! if so i'll pick them up and start sorting my brackets to fit the porsche calipers!

is there any chance that these will fit in a 15inch rim using 280mm g60 disks?!

will definately be looking at fitting the porsche upright, maybe a winter project!

(how do i go about starting a project thread?! looks like this ones getting bigger by the day!)

So, the nissan calipers will fit the mounting brackets of the vw ones? Arte the pistons bigger or are there more pistons 4 instead of 2? or is it the rotors? i'm curious

you can get brembo brackets from VAG, fitted on a SEAT model, designed for 4 stud too!  No idea what brembo calipers are compatible though.

the passat hubs will do nicely,   i would think you should be able to get them under a 15"  rim  tho it is abit rim dependant as g60 brakes won't go with a few 15's  tho some compomotive 15's will take 305mm

the nissan calipers won't bolt straight up but are very close, mounting  holes are 1mm  smaller and 1mm closer together than the vag hence will drill out very nicely.  not sure on what exact years can be used tho.

I'll pick up those passat uprights and hubs then! i'll send them off with the rest of my powdercoating!

then just have to knock up some brackets to fit the porsche calipers to the uprights, (dont suppose anyone has a drawing?! )

also does anyone know what would be the best way to clean up calipers? are they anodised standard?

aye they look like the ones.   got a modifyed pair in the garage waiting to go on the car     but got a set of ebc yellows for the g60 brakes to munch through first

dragging this thread up from the depths.........

i had a go at fitting the nissan calipers now my pads are worn out. they aren't an easy fit unfortunately. it was easy enough to get the bolt holes lined up but the caliper is off centre by 5mm (wants to go outwards) so that means machining 5mm off the bracket and thats 14mm to start with, so might create a weak point.

they also hit the wheel spokes where they are now, so once caliper is moved across 5mm, spacers will be needed or different offset wheels, maybe 10mm wider would do.

but, i cant be arsed so am getting new pads for the g60's  i think the track is wide enough for now
