Mk5 Gti
« on: 12 October 2008, 15:38 »
Morning all,

As i said in my "newbie" post, I have a modded 996 turbo and a merc as a day to day car,

Now i have always had modded cars, including a mk1 / mk2 gtis and a Mk3 Vr6,  now what i am going to do when i get back is get a Mk5 GTi , i was thinking about a R32 but have decided a GTI turbo would be more fun! so its dumb ass question time i am afraid!

I will have to upgrade the front brakes, so that will be aps probably, or would i be better with the RS4 conversion?

a full miltek system, like on the porker, manifolds, cats the works!

a after market intercooler and hose kit, if so what do you suggest?

a remap, probably use my own man, though you lot seem to like revo.....

H+R springs and arbs?

any other suggestions?

Now i had smg on my E46 M3 and liked it so is the Dsg the car to go for?

now this will be a more or less day to day car so i am not wanting it too radical, hence not getting KW3s!!

your thoughts are most welcome!

Cheers RG

Welcome RG

A lot of questions there

I'd firstly go for an Edition 30 over the Standard GTI....and DSG FTW in my mind

As for the rest - look at my sig and then do some searches for threads on here. There's tons of info

It sounds like your a man who likes your power so I would say defo ED30 because a few simple mods such as remap etc. can give you a reliable 300BHP which is great fun in a smaller car! Like Hurdy says just trawl through some of the info on the forum and make decisions on modifications from there.
