As for alloys, keep an eye for a nice set of 16" BBS alloys on ebay, some go very cheap, although they might need a refurb.

yeah its all one big learning curve but we all have to go through it .

yeah might get me some bbs anni wheels i had some on my old golf and foolishly sold them with them on it

get some audi wheels....the 16" bbs are becoming Mr Popular!!   
lower it a bit (the hottuning coilies are cheaper than a decent lowering kit and no lower susepnsion is forgiving!! I had boge & eibach and it was still firm!)..
get an exhaust (backbox is the minimum and unless you want the extra noise keep the o.e middle)

they you go sorted! total spend about £450 for all that lot!

they are RXII but check they are 6.5" or 7" wide, the mk4 had the 6.5's and the anni is 7" (a load of ebay one's are quoted as rare anni rims but they are the 6.5 mk4 one's!!)

yeah nice one ill kjeep that in mind bradley...i had the true 7j wide wheels i did pay a fair bit for them but with the wider tyre came the extra grip..

yeah they do look awesome...id prob put some spacers on them make them wide

just be carefull with spacers...mine are 15mm and cause problems with 205 width tryes! hence running 195's now its untra low!!
