HELP! flat battery/dash/mfa question
« on: 22 May 2004, 18:14 »
basically i havent started my car for a week and when i tried to the battery was flat. i have some vdo gauges of which the volt gauge is always on so i can monitor the volts, it dropped to 10 volts. could this be why the battery has gone flat? i have also noticed that the volts on the gauge are rarely above 12 yet regularly used to hit 14. im gonna put a switch into the power wire of the gauges so i can turn them off when the car is standing for a while.

anyway i jumped it off my mums car and now the rev counter and mfa dont work. the rev counter stays still and the mfa shows loads of weird symbols in the display. also the coolant and oil pressure lights stay permanently lit?

the petrol, temp and speedo gauges all seem to be working fine.

any ideas peeps???

ok i panicked. i thought about it and tried wiping fuse 19 out, and it reset, yay! BUT! anyone got any ideas why it would have gone flat in the first place? could it be that vdo thing? i have recently changed the earth strap that goes from the side of the head to the coil mounts. could this cause it? or is my battery shagged?

I left my interior light on all last night and my car started first time this morning.

could be a flat batt but then again the sig lighter draws alot of current right?
