2nd service + DSG service
« on: 10 October 2008, 10:28 »
Hi all,....

My ed30 is now on 32k miles and due its 2nd service soon, plus the DSG service,.......(although DSG service not due until 40k miles, getting it done early!)

I have two questions,..... :nerd:

1) I have Bluefin on my car (like I need to tell you lot that with all my recent posts!!), would you put the car back to stock for the services? The main reason I think I should is because of the DSG service, I don't know what they do although no doubt being in stock mode would be better???

2) My local VW dealer gave away some of my personal info to a road rage nut recently  and have promised to pay towards my service. The total service including VAT, Labour, DSG service is normally £400,.....they're offering it to me for £280 due to the error with my personal details. Is that enough of a discount and should I be happy to leave it at that????

Yours views always appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi Terry,

Personally I wouldn't worry about taking the bluefin map off unless your dealer has something against remaps.

On the other stuff I would want the service for free plus some if they did that to me

I am sure if you point out the data protection act they will soon come to their senses as the fines for a breach of this can be massive

Cheers,

Steve

Personally I would switch the car back to stock to avoid the temptation for someone to take your car for a joy ride.

I agree !   ... and if they can't see it as remapped you won't have any warranty worries should they find anything with the DSG - or anything else for that matter - which is amiss.  This is what appeals to me with the Bluefin - it goes back completely to standard and no one is any the wiser

How old is it?

Yes, ECU back to stock.  If VW AG have released a revised OEM map, then that usually automatically gets written to your ECU.  However, if this rewrite happens onto a modified map, it can potentially toast your ECU, and that most definately wont be covered by warranty.!

You are joking!        I would be fcuking fuming if they did that.  Report the cnuts to the Information Commissioner - because that is a clear breach of unauthorised disclosure.  I would be demanding some serious compensation for that - and that would be waaaaaaayyyyyy more than a poxy £120!  You might want to seek proper legal advice, via your local CAB - but dependent on the details they released, you should be looking at around five grand.  Not only does this third party now know your car, but also your name, where it lives, etc, etc.  I'm sorry, but I would be after blood.  Speak to the "Dealer Principal", and ask three things, (a) what exactly did they give out, (b) their pathetic offer is now where near adequate and needs substantially reconsidering, (c) what disciplinary procedures are they taking.

I was gonna have a quiet day today, but the e-mail notification of this thread just amazed me!!!!!

^ I agree with T_T, I'd be in the DP (fnar fnar) 's office with whoever gave out the info and I'd be looking to rip someone's spine out.

I certainly wouldn't be leaving until I'd got some serious compo and the person in question sacked.

Ring the CAB, Police and get some legal advice - £120 and a sorry is no good when some lunatic has torched your car or filled you in, how do you know they're not "biding their time"?

I agree with T_T here, go and seek some professional advise. This is a huge NO NO for a business to disclose your personal info, and to a road rage nutter is totally unforgivable.
