Should you not put it in P if you're parking?

Either that or you asking when you take your foot off the brake. I would hazzard a guess that the box is dipping the clutch to avoid a stall and that's doing what it's supposed to do.

DSG cars do not have "Hill Hold" ability, the clutch cannot hold the cars weight on anything more than a small incline. So what you described is normal, it needs rev's to engage the clutch sufficiently and VW dont recommend holding it that way on a hill they say use the handbrake.

I think the worst time to have a heart attack is during a game of charades. Especially if your teammates are bad guessers.

Yep but that's a normal auto and not a DSG.  :smug:

The latest gen 7 speed DSG's have the "hill hold" feature available.

Exactly.

The latest gen 7 speed DSG's have the "hill hold" feature available.

But that is nothing to do with the actual gearbox.  The hill hold just electronically applies the rear brakes, and uses some kind of torque reaction to release them,
