i find the standard one "notchy" sometimes 1st to 2nd really needs a push for it to "click in" to the "notch"

I had this for the first few hundred miles but now its perfect. Wouldnt mind a slightly shortened throw though. I am hoping the Gti/ED30/R32 are all the same when it comes to the manual??

Defo shouldnt be like that. I would get it looked at.. or better still compare with another manual at some point. If I try running through the gears whilst parked up engine off I can hear them.. but Im sure thats quite normal. Engine on... dont hear any of the gear changes :huh:

agreed. but getting it to happen while showing them or while their engineer test drives may be dificult. it does it randomly...
i also have no convidence in my citygate dealer in bushy/watford.

also dont have another ed30 to test with :(

Anyone stuck this S3 part in their std GTI yet? How much difference does it make?
