Zymol
« on: 18 June 2003, 13:13 »
Cleaned and waxed the Audi yesterday. I used the Zymol cleaner wax that Halfords sells.........looks great.
Has anyone tried some of Zymols more expensive waxes? Difficult to see how you could improve on what I used yesterday.

I've not tried the zymol. but I use Mer on my Cabrio, and it come up a treat everytime, It's a little expensive, but definatly worth the extra cost. It goes on a wet car, so you dont need to dry it first either. smells nice too!

Hi Adam,
Had a look around Halfords and Camberley Auto Factors the other day and don't recall seeing that one........where do you buy that?

Also, is it one of those waxes where the more you wax the car the deeper the depth of shine you'll build? I think that the Zymol that I used cleans off any previous wax that was on there.

I have seen Mer in the local Halfords...it is in a light blue container with a gold top. Used it in the past but not that widely available and a bit pricey, but it is quite good. must admit I use Autoglym products and do rate the super resin polish and gloss polish. Brings the car up a treat.

I must admit, I have been using the Autoglym 'extra gloss protection' that you put on after you have waxed the car.........excellent stuff.
I was just wondering if there is a product out there where every time you waxed the car you were building on a previous coating as opposed to wiping off the previous coating and applying new.........or is that not a good idea  ???

I know what you mean, but cant think of any prodcuts that do that. The only way of achieving that would possibly be to wax the car more often as opposed leaving it until it actually needs doing. On the other hand the Autoglym super gloss polish can be used on its own as long as the car is relatively clean (but still washed). I have only used it after waxing the car, but know you can use it on its own. I must admit after using that stuff washing the car is so much easier and insects, etc dont take as much to get off.

When I Zymol'ed the Audi the other day, I did notice that the first application was very difficult to buff up. However, when I did a second application in exactly the same place, it was much easier to buff up.............so maybe you're right, wax the car more regularly instead of just once every 6 months......i think it might even have been over a year for the Audi  :-[

I always try and wax the Golf every month, but it never usually gets done that often!! But when it does it is very satisfying but then you notice all the imperfection such as stone chips!!

I've got a few minor scraches on my paintwork that i've tried to get out using various polishes/waxes from me garage but all were unsucessful. So I thought it try some colour magic as it came with a chip stick! But found it absolutly useless! the chip stick just didnt do anything i even tried heating it up abit! and the polish was a waste of money too! Might go and have a look at that Zymol stuff or one of the others! Cheers boys got any other favourite waxes that are worth a go??

Correct me if I'm wrong but products like the Zymol cleaner wax are for applying a layer of wax and other materials to the surface of your paintwork to protect it........and make it look good.
I wouldn't have thought it was the right product for removing blemishes........for that you would need something like T cut. As for scratches, if its scratches in your paint work then wouldn't you be better to fill the scratch with paint (touch-up) and then compound it back?
T cut's also good if you have marks from other cars paintwork on yours..........but always use it sparingly as you are at the end of the day removing some of the finish..........takes a long time to go though your paint, but if you concentrate on the one area for too long it will eventually go through..........BTDT  :(
