Anyone ever had this problem?

Ok then...

My cars been feeling a bit odd the past few weeks, top mounts have finally been changed today and it now feels 10x better.

But, on my way back to work this afternoon from my mates garage where it was done it felt like the front left wheel was going to fall off! So as you do i stopped and had a good look, took the centre cap off the alloy and double checked the bolts... nope there not going anywhere!

So then carried on and drove back to the office.

Just cant really explain it but the wheel seems to jump all over the place at time and its affecting the steering?

Any suggestions people??

I have, on mine it was the balljoint bolts had come loose, get under and check it NOW before it comes off!

Right then...

Just had a good look under the car, ball joint and bolts are fine - no play whatsoever. Bottom arm bushes all fine as well. Wheel bearing are also fine.. The only problem is the damper is bolloxed, has literally no oil in it at all and moves up and down freely.

Would this cause the problem? While breaking or accelerating it pulls to the left, which is the side that feels strange and also the side that the damper is leaking.

Any help asap would be great...

Just a thought - have you had the strus & springs off the car and if so has it been realigned properly? When my struts were done the garage (!) that did them didn't line anything up properly and didn't even tell me about it. Car drove terribly and was a total nightmare in the wet going wherever it felt like. Eventually went to a specialist and got it laser aligned - they said it was one of the worst cases they'd seen in a long time and in just 3 weeks it had totally destroyed a tyre (almost to the canvas on the inside edge).

a knackered shocker will make driving interesting as there's nothing to control the wheel bounce...very dangerous as the only thing controling the wheel movement up and down is the spring!! causing issues like yours.. oh and i would get the tracking checked after fitting a new shock (or for more safety both of them)

Yea it seems thats what ive narrowed it down too.. needing the wheels re-aligning and a new shock, but struggeling to get hold of a spax rsx shock on its own, have emailed spax themselves as they dont sell them seperately on the site so just waiting for them to get back to me!
