Next time you are at a meet you gonna help me make my car auto open !

even a diy guide you could do for us fools ?

As a owner of DSG and a hardcore SMG II and a regular SMG III user, i would class DSG for everday use better.

Also i have to say that DSG is aimed at a different type of driving style and driver.

I love the way that SMG II can bang the gear changes in s6 with DSC and TC off, also love the down shifts especially when you blip the throttle ! and you can feel the gearchanges, the box being harrassed to change the gears !

However now that i have DSG i hate SMG II it when you are in traffic and the thing is clunking, obviously there is a technique to make it smoother ie trail of the throttle slightly and re apply the same throttle.

However day to day use the DSG does the job so effectively i am decided that the only manual cars i will have are track orientated/hardcore.  :smug:

Also on the AUto setting the DSg is just like a manual car almost but the SMG on the auto setting is a bit sloppy even in A6/d6.  :nerd:

The DSG does its gear changes without feel ( ie the banging through the seat ) but i love it on upshifts when you hear the engine holding back the high revs and the next gear coming in so quickly resulting in a "boom boom" noise LOL PMSL ! !

The DSG is better than SMG III also, like on a M5 due to the fact SMG III cannot change gears faster than the DSG (well it feels like it doesn't) and its still clunky at low speeds and nor is it smooth as DSG !

Honestly DSG is the next revolution. Have not tried M-DCT but i hope its like the VW system but with the rawness of BMW's SMG II.

PS im not biased i was one of the few people 4/5 years ago who said i'd never have SMG / DSG, its for people who dont know how to drive !

Now i know its for people who know how to drive but also realise that 95% of the time the roads are not a race track !! !!

Only one downside too DSG , when you press the brake it cuts the throttle but im sure this can be sorted out by some software !!!

DSG rules SMg in my book, icould live without SMG II and III i could not live without DSG ! ( theres a line i thought i would never ever never say !  )

Ok now I have another question as well as my first one:

1. Can you or anyone else tell me where I can get some number plate holders like those in your pics?

2. What carbon fibre mirror casings are those and where did you get them?

Please, thank you.

I would PM you however you only have 7 posts and I don't think you can do that until you have more!

Very nice work there pal, and love the fact you don't hang about!

Keith I think the door mirrors are from the states, hence the blind spot mirror being on the N/S

Cue torrents of DSG owner abuse

If you are having it painted next week, pics are mandatory on here

Not painting, vinyl
And yes, i will post pic's for ya'll

I'm not knocking the DSG, it's great for round town, i just prefer the more aggressive SMGII

What is your reasoning behind this comment? Don't worry, I'm not nagging or sticking up for DSG here saying its the best thing in the world (after all... I chose manual myself, over DSG), but having driven both Im just curious as to your opinion

I prefer the sharper gear changes, on a more spirited drive i think the SMGII give a more aggressive feel

each to there own i guess

I've only driven the Audi range off DSG's tbh, but surely the golf range of DSG's isn't going to be that much different ?!

Very nicely done in the end.  R32 rear lights.. ?

I'd like some R32 rear lights, but i'm not paying the silly prices i've seen them for !

Are you anywhere local to Lincoln ??
I'll put together a DIY guide if anyone wants ??

Next time you are at a meet you gonna help me make my car auto open !

I agree with your comments, but like i said, i just prefer the more aggressive SMGII - everyones different i guess.

But if i wanted a good around towner, the DSG would be easier to live with

Number plates :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/German-Euro-Number-Plates-suitable-for-VW-Audi-BMW-Golf_W0QQitemZ190254751273QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item190254751273&_trkparms=72%3A1301|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Not the cheapest , but very good quality

If you want just a black surround, look in one of the ebay shops for them (number plate sellers) - i've seen simmilar in them

I got the mirror cases from the states

very nice car and a credit to you

Thankyou

where did you buy them?

Yes, they are from the states also, but i have a set of RHD ones coming too - i wanted the bendy bit on both sides

They're heated - and fit like factory BTW

Very nice work there pal, and love the fact you don't hang about!

Keith I think the door mirrors are from the states, hence the blind spot mirror being on the N/S

Thanks....and your correct, from the States (see above also)

looks great that notnormal.

Suspension, could you measure the ARB thickness please ? (let me know)

good work mate
