Engine comparisons? Vw Tdi engines

yeah our lass actually likes the S1 turbo, i love them, oldskool!!!!....deffo get a golf over a lardy rep mobile of a passat...even a 130 is good believe me, we used to have one...

Don't bother with the 150bhp motor - it narrows the power band and isn't going to be noticeably faster than a 130PD, but is likely to use more fuel.

trust me, iv had one of each, big difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  and didnt notice any difference in fuel consumption, the 130 really are good, but the 150 is that bit better

Well I think 150bhp will be enough.  So I guess it's either a case of get a 130 and map it or get a 150 (and map it later  ).

Think it's down to a MK4 golf now too, so, are there any specific engine codes or specs to avoid?  From what I see, there is SE, S, GT?  Others?  Or should I now go off and hunt the MK4 section...

Get  a mk4 tdi... there awesome for what they are! Not sure on the prices though

If you're after fuel ecomony - get a Mk4 TDI.

Or get the 20vT I have and map it! You should run at least 190bhp and still get around 35 mpg  - depending on how you drive!

Why not look at the Bora?
It's just a Golf with a boot and tends to be cheaper than the equivalent Golf.

I also driven one of each, the 130 was good, but the 150 was as quick as the vr6!

Have driven the 150 it felt much quicker than my vr6. The torque is amazing

yeah my 150 leaves my mates VR, the TDI is a very suprising car!
