did this error occur after the fitting of the unit, i.e did the old ipod work with the nav unit, or was it just the new ipod that showed the problem ?
The MFD2 worked fine with both my old ipod and with the new one for about 2 or 3 weeks. Then out of the blue it stopped working. I have even tried putting the old unit back and it still does not work. Now, with hind site I should have left the old unit in and taken it to the dealer. It takes about and hour to remove and install the units so I might just do so and take it ot the dealer again. The MFD2 works just fine by the way.
The thing is, i think that i will just ditch the VW connection for something else anyway.
well, in theory it will work, but on VCDS it will trhow up error codes as there is a new unit in the dash, and the system will still be thinking the old unit should be there, when i installed mine i had three (4 actually but one was related to the soundpack which i need to make allowances for ) error codes in three different areas (2 in stereo location and one in the central gateway), these were solved by recoding with VCDS, telling the car i now had a sat nav unit installed
From some other forums i have heard about some errors occuring with the installation but these were generally put down to having the ingnition on when the central dash section is removed.
Please excuse my ingnorance for all things audio related but if you put in an after market head uint (ie kenwood etc) the shop (halfords, sextons etc) will not have the means to code it, will they? so how does the car deal with them? If the new unit is throwing up errors would these have been cleared during the service or will they just always be retriggered? Finally with the coding of the new unit why would it potentially stop the MFD unit working?
Thanks for all your help it is greatfully received.
